Funding Announcement for DOE Earth System Modeling Program

Image
Description

The Earth System Modeling Program recently launched a DOE-laboratory-led project to develop the Accelerated Climate Model for Energy (ACME). ACME aims to design and perform high-resolution climate simulations efficiently on Leadership Computing Facility computers, in order to advance research on the coupled Earth system and to inform societal planning. The ACME model codes and outputs will be released regularly to the broader community. This funding opportunity, DE-FOA-0001482, invites community input into ACME design and development, by soliciting applications that would develop and investigate the climate system in the following areas:

  • atmospheric chemistry,
  • convection,
  • ocean biogeochemistry,
  • tidal and estuary representations,
  • representations of land disturbances, and
  • improvements to particular system-coupling treatments.

Pre-applications are due 01/19/2016 at 5 PM Eastern Time. Encourage/discourage announcements will be made by 01/29/2016 at 5 PM Eastern Time. Final applications are due 03/14/2016 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.
